"Punzel" Time!

K has been asking me for months for a "Punzel" dress. Both girls are constantly saying they want "Punzel" hair. So, when I heard my neice wanted dress up things for her birthday, I decided it was about time I granted K's wish. I made a two piece Rapunzel dress (based on the Tangled movie) and made a long, braided "wig" for her to dress up with.

Here is the inspiration:

I made a corset looking top with puffed, striped sleeves and the 3/4 sheer sleeves. The skirt was going to be panels, for a more authentic look, but I ran out of time and ended up going with a simple, basic skirt. I even added the lace details!

The wig is just braided fleece. I plan to make the front fringed for a bangs look later. It's long and light weight, so it's perfect for what she wanted!

R wanted to dress up too, so we got the Rosetta outfit out for her.

Memorial Day weekend so far...

On Saturday, the girls and I went to the Pirate Day thingy downtown... not as interesting as I had hoped. We ended up leaving pretty shortly after arriving and went to the little mall instead. We picked out some books at Goodwill and then did some shopping for R's birthday party. Nana gave them a ride on the carousel, which was the highlight of the trip:

Today, we have been playing outside and getting a bit of work done. We finally got the swing set to the backyard, but not assembled. We set up the slide on the porch steps, though, and that seemed to make the kids pretty happy!

While I was working in the yard, I found a bee's nest... but not till after I got a fly-by-stinging! Or two! I HATE bees!!!

Fat Lips!

This past month, both R and T have gotten fat lips! R was running down hill and face planted on the cement:

And, on R's birthday, at McDonalds, another kid slammed a big metal door into T's face, which shoved his lip into his tooth:

Easter

For Easter, we had a family dinner at our housr this year. We did an egg hunt outside for the kids. After at least a half hour, we decided we either miscounted the number of eggs, or we still have a couple hidden out there!

They also found a frog along the way!

The girls wore their new outfits and had a ball posing in them and twirling in them:

I never thought they looked anything alike till I saw this photo!

Easter Eve

The day before Easter we went to Sehmel Park, a new, really nice park in Gig Harbor. They did an egg hunt, but mostly we played on the toddler bouncey thing and a big slide. This is now or new favorite park!

Mother Daughter Tea

Over Mother's Day weekend the girls and I got dressed up and went to a Mother-Daughter Tea with my MIL. We had a great time and had lots of yummy desserts!
This is the only shot I had that shows the girls' cute jackets:

Mother Daughter Tea Preview

Tomorrow the girls and I will be going to a mother daughter tea with my MIL/Grandma. I got this cute sun dress when my best friend and I went shopping for my birthday. The zipper was broken, so I talked the manager into giving me a better deal! I replaced the zipper, and only one part bugs me, so I will call it a success. Here is the outfit for tomorrow:

And a shot of the part that bugs me (the top needs a hook and eye so it doesnt make a little V shape):

One day of Spring!

Last weekend we actually had a nice, warm Spring day, so we took the kids to a new (amazing!) park in Gig Harbor. We had such a good time! It was kind of an after thought to get a shot of each of the kids before we left. Please forgive the terrible shots!

Pretty Drive

I love looking at the snow! Key word being "looking". I really dont like to be cold, so I would much rather just see the snow while still being toasty warm. Recently, I had to drive through Snoqualmie Pass. During that drive I went from rain/hail to snow to sunny and almost warm. Here are some quick shots of the pretty part of the drive through the pass:
This is actually water. You cant really see it, but the very center is the only part not frozen/snowed covered.
Of course it got much deeper looking right around the resort area where the plows made "walls".

Inspiration

I saw this adorable little jacket at Gymboree the other day. Unfortunately, even on clearance Gymboree's prices are nearly always way too much for me to pay! This was one of those times. Even on clearance it was still well over $20.
It's kind of hard to see in the photo (taken on phone), but the bottom of the jacket is made like a two tiered ruffle dress, and it has a hood. I have a jacket pattern in a similar style, so I plan to make the top half from the pattern and then make the bottom half based on the two tier dress style. I really need to stop added to my to-make pile, but I just love this little jacket!
